We Are Made To Be One

At the center of every nation,
of every community,
there is an aspiration,
a vision that unites the people into a shared hope.
Within my own culture that ideal
is what my ancestors called kinship:
the sacred bond between all forms of life.
Recognizing that we all come from the same source,
the heart of creation,
we understand that no differences between us
can dissolve the original intent of our Creator.
We are made to be one.
Let us pray for that sense of unity
in our national family
and among all the communities of the Earth.
