“I come from a family of spiritual wanderers”

During Advent, One in the Spirit hosted a diocesan book study group exploring Presiding Bishop Michael Curry’s “Love is the Way” — with weekly reflection from diverse voices on what it means to live out God’s inclusive love in the world.

“I come from a family of spiritual wanderers” are the opening words of this reflection by Diocesan Youth Missioner Gabriel Vasquez-Reyes — a story that brings home the message of the power of the open invitation to all God’s beloved to gather at the table and how that message transforms us all.

So in this fourth week of Lent, we give thanks for Gabe’s willingness to share his story … and for the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit calling us all to greater wholeness and unity in the service of the one who loved us enough to become one of us in order to show us how to love one another.
